Dear Members,

I am writing with news of some exciting changes to the flying school over the next few months.
As some of you may be aware the parent company of the flying school has been considering its interest in the school for the last few months. This has been prompted in part by an expansion of their main business and a concern that they aren’t able to provide all of the resources needed to ensure that we provide a vibrant flying school for our pilots in addition to the high quality of teaching which our instructors provide.

As a consequence they have been considering various parties who have shown an interest in running the flying school.

However throughout this process the most important factor to us has been the continuation of the same high standards of flying training at Old Sarum and to ensure there is no break in training for our pilots – particularly those who have purchased PPL packs.

Therefore I am very pleased to be able to tell you that we have now reached an agreement with Gordon Blamire and David Wood who will take on the flying school from today.

I’m sure that both will be well known to many of you, particularly David who is one of our senior instructors; both have enjoyed considerable success in their other businesses and are enthusiastic about aviation.

For our part, we are very pleased to have found two individuals who we are confident will not only
continue the same standards and tradition that Old Sarum is known for, but will improve and drive the school forward.

We hope that you will agree with us that this is a positive move; we are confident that in the hands of
Gordon and David the flying school will go from strength to strength.

In the short term our aim is that you should notice no changes at all – the same faces will continue to be in place on the ground including the ops staff and instructors. There will also be no changes for those of you who have PPL packs or have made advanced purchases; Gordon and David will now provide the training and you can continue to run the hours down in the usual way and benefit from the same rate, or in the alternative we will be happy to refund the outstanding balance.

Hopefully therefore the transfer will be completely seamless and the only changes you do notice will be entirely positive.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom over the last four years, and wish you all the best for your flying in the future.

With kind regards,

Michael Arnold
