On behalf of all those who attended the above event this last Saturday, many thanks to David for his fascinating talk.

David gave an overview of his flying career, from basic training on the Piston Provost, his time flying RAF Javelins, his service at the Empire Test Pilots School, and his varied civil aviation career, which included time on airships and many other types..to name a few!

David also mentioned Robert Smith-Barry during the talk; Smith-Barry created a system of flight training during World War One in order to give proper training to RFC pilots. This system is still the core of the flight training system in use today, as detailed by this BBC article.

Many thanks to Old Sarum Airfield and the Skies Cafe for providing catering on the night.
