The CAA Safety Sense leaflets offer excellent information on a wide range of topics relevant to the private pilot, from good airmanship, to the use of GPS, to aircraft performance and many more. Our instructors highly recommend them to our students and pilots alike; and as we move into winter, we’d very much recommend reading at least Safety Sense Leaflet 03; Winter Flying! We will shortly be taking December bookings; please bear in mind that over the Christmas break, GoFly will will close at 15:00 hours local on Wednesday 23rd December. We will reopen at 10:00 on Friday the 1st of January 2016.
Ishmael today successfully flew his first solo! Well done from all of us here at GoFly; Ishmael works as an aircraft engineer, and is therefore normally found designing aircraft, however today he took to the skies alone for the first time. Well done Ishmael – we look forward to the rest of your training with us.
Congratulations to Nick Jenkins, who today passed his PPL Skills Test and is now a qualified pilot! Nick has been one of our most dedicated and hardworking students in recent years, and his perseverance has certainly paid off. He now plans to fly further afield and explore the UK. We wish him well in his future aviating, and he’s earned a big “well done” from all at GoFly.
Today Old Sarum Airshow in full swing; so far the Spitfires, Gyrocopters, Tutor and RF-4 have displayed. The Ravens just getting airborne! We’re promised a display from the Avro Vulcan and the iconic WW2 B17 later. Come on down and join us at the GoFly stand for the best views! You can find us next to the Control Tower.
Congratulations to Miles Ashley who did his first solo today! Miles carried out a beautiful landing this morning, and we think his smile will take at least two days to wear off. He’s earned a big “good job” from all the staff here at GoFly. Good work Miles!
Congratulations to David Ralph who won 2 free tickets to Old Sarum airshow today at the GoFly BBQ! He’s got a fantastic show to look forward to; the flying programme so far includes displays from a pair of Spitfires, the Turbulent display team, the Calidus Gyrocopter, the Royal Air Force Tutor Display Team, plus a unique opportunity to see both the Avro Vulcan bomber and the B17 Flying Fortress in formation. Congratulations to John Goldsmith, who completed his Cross Country Qualifier yesterday! Despite a weather abort yesterday, John had excellent met conditions today, and flew his route in record time. Well done John!
Congratulations to Hristo Karadzhov, who completed his Skills Test yesterday and is now a qualified Private Pilot. Hristo plans now to fly much further afield, and tells us he has a number of trips to do to destinations in the UK. Good work Hristo!

Well done to Ben Koprowski who is now qualified to teach the IR(R), courtesy of a Bursary from the Honourable Company of Air Pilots –https://www.airpilots.org/. The Honourable Company also provide PPL Scholarships; see here for details https://www.airpilots.org/career-matters/scholarships/ Ben flew his first IR(R) instructional sortie with Stephen Brindley yesterday. Stephen qualified a few months ago for his PPL, and has his sights set on flying above the clouds with his instrument rating soon!

Well done to Adrian Burrows who today passed his IR(R) skills test! Adrian, who works for the AAIB, can now continue to fly on the days where the weather is less than 100%!
